NPS-RP HPLC: A High-Resolution alternative to SDS-PAGE and Western Blot analysis
HPLC is a well-established high resolution and robust technique for separating many diverse types
of analytes. Protein analysis of very complex systems such as biofluids and cell lysates however, require very different approaches and have typically been separated using gel based methodologies.
While powerful, they suffer many limitations one the most significant being that the proteins of interest are imbedded in a gel matrix after separation.
HPLC has the power to separate proteins intact and in the liquid phase but, for high resolution analysis, this requires the development of stationary phases that can handle the myriad of additives, surfactants and chaotropes typical to protein extraction from complex systems. With traditional (porous) HPLC columns these additives must be removed from the sample prior to separation making them unsuitable for routine use in the high resolution analysis of complex protein mixtures.

To solve this significant obstacle, we developed ProteoSep NPSHPRP columns for robust,
reproducible and high-resolution liquid phase separations of complex protein samples with less than 1 hour analysis times.
Highly complex protein samples can now be easily separated with standard HPLC Instruments and protocols into 96 well plate formats. Proteins can now be isolated intact in the liquid phase without the need to remove surfactants, chaotropes and other additives prior to the analysis using HPLC.
